A saved model is one thing Millwork may run your task on. The API calls a saved model an arm. You save a model from your organization’s catalog. You can also save an agent endpoint your organization operates, or a skill. Saving makes an option available to Millwork. It does not force Millwork to pick that option for any run.

Model

A model from your organization’s catalog (GET /v1/model-catalog), saved with the registration template the catalog returns for it.

Agent endpoint

An HTTPS endpoint your organization operates. Millwork checks that it is reachable when you save it.

Skill

A versioned procedure with a hash. Millwork can propose a repair to a skill, and the saved skill changes only after a person approves it.

What saving a model does

Saving a model gives it a stable id (arm_id) and a readiness status: ready, degraded, or disabled. For each run, Millwork keeps the saved models that fit your limits and picks one.
  • A saved model is available, not chosen. Saving it does not make Millwork pick it when other saved models also fit the task. The receipt shows which one answered.
  • A saved model that is not ready is skipped. Millwork does not use it as a fallback, and it does not wait for it.
  • Saving a model does not start a run. A live run has a platform fee, charged when Millwork accepts the run; read Model access and billing.

Why save a model instead of naming a provider in each call

Your run request names the outcome and your limits, not a provider or a credential. Provider credentials stay in the connection used by the saved model and never appear in a run request. When you need one exact saved model, set routing.required_arm_id in the run request.

Start with a model

The private preview starts with a model. Choose one from your organization’s catalog and send its registration template to POST /v1/arms exactly as the catalog returns it. The response contains the arm_id and its status. An agent endpoint belongs to your organization, and Millwork calls the HTTPS address you saved. Skills are an advanced option. A proposed repair to a skill needs explicit approval before it changes the saved skill.
