Millwork keeps three facts separate:
  • Model: what you want to run.
  • Provider: the company, cloud, or gateway that serves it.
  • Connection: the provider account used for the request.
The same model can be served by more than one provider. The provider connection determines the account and billing path. The model name reported by the provider may be more specific than the name Millwork requested. The exact provider endpoint, region, and protocol are recorded as the provider model route. You do not need to choose that route in a normal run request.

Requested and provider-reported models

A cloud or gateway may answer with a dated model version. Millwork keeps both names in the result and receipt. The requested value is what Millwork asked for. The provider-reported value is what the provider or gateway said answered. The API field for that second value is resolved. OpenRouter is a gateway, so the provider and model reported by OpenRouter may be more specific than the requested route.

Check current availability

Use GET /v1/model-catalog for models your organization can run now. Use GET /v1/model-source-profiles for providers your organization can connect. A provider named in the docs is not an availability promise. The current integration list and public interface status are in What you can use today.

Current model features

Current provider integrations support text input and text output. Do not assume support for streaming, tools, images, audio, embeddings, fine-tuning, or provider-specific request options unless the catalog and API reference add them. Do not use a static list to choose a model. The model catalog is the current answer for your organization.
