Authorization: Bearer header. Credit is the prepaid balance that funds
live runs. A quota is the number of runs your organization may submit per calendar month (UTC), and how many may run at once. This page tells the three apart,
so a 401, 402, or 429 gets the right fix the first time.

Why was my API key rejected?
For the CLI, configure the same Millwork key privately.
A supported local interactive
tenant start checks and saves it through a
private browser page. Remote and automated use can load SOLVERAPI_API_KEY from
a secret store. A local configuration check can confirm a key is present
without proving it is valid.
Credit problem or account limit?
An error from your provider is separate from Millwork’s
insufficient_credit.
If the provider reports a credit problem, check that provider’s account.
Adding Millwork credit does not fund it. For rejected access, rate limits or
an unavailable model, follow Provider connection help
rather than assuming every refusal needs a top-up.
Payment and billing changes are dashboard actions by a signed-in person. A
Millwork organization API key cannot add credit or change payment details.
When a run is charged
A test run (the API calls it Echo,mode: "echo") does not call a model, so it has no platform fee and no model cost. It still counts toward your quota. A live run has a platform fee,
charged when Millwork accepts the run, not when it completes. If you cancel
a run, the fee is kept and the run still counts toward your quota; a model call
that was already running finishes, and its usage cost can continue. The one
exception: when Millwork itself fails a run before any model attempt starts, it
returns the fee and the quota count automatically. See

When you run a model through your own provider account, that provider bills your
organization directly for model usage. Millwork still charges the platform fee,
and your credit and quota can still stop the run.
Replace an organization key
Create and test the replacement before revoking the old key.
